But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge... Psalm 73:28
God has been dealing with me about "Living in His Presence" so when I read this scripture the portion that stuck out is "it is good to be near God". Why? It's found in verse 26 My Flesh and my heart fail me but God is the strength of my heart. My heart is only as strong as it is close to God. Living outside of God's presence, living with minimal exposure to God's presence creates a weak heart.
I didn't realize this but I was depending more on my passion in the last few months then God's presence in my life. Passion is contaigous, it's something that inspires. Passion births, it creates, it builds momentum. Without being passionate life seems boring, mundane and average. Passion is an incredible thing to have and live with, but passion will not keep you going, it doesn't have sustaining power when it's all you. The writer said it today "my flesh and my heart fail me" There's no substitute for God's presence. My heart was weak because of the lack of exposure to the presence of God. Even what you love to do, are called to do, and may even do well will lose steam outside of God's presence. Frustrations set in, anxiousness, anxiety, lack of peace meanwhile trying to make up by becoming even more busier. That's not where I want to live, I refuse to live there. The answer, live in His presence, don't visit, don't just drop in real quick to say hello, live in it. My heart is better when I live in His presence, My heart is stronger, the fruit is better, the results are better, life is better when I have made a commitment to make the "Soverign Lord my refuge" and to do that daily. There's no substitute for God's presence, there just isn't.
