"A couple of years ago I was at a worship meeting in the Czech Republic. We had just experienced an extraordinary time in God's presence, almost as if a blanket of holiness was pressing in on us... I was leading the worship and had left the stage area to get some water. I walked past a girl who was just resting in God's presence and I smelt a strong smell that was like roses. It caught my attention because I had once smelt something similar at a meeting at my church. After the meeting I asked her: 'Are you wearing perfume?' She must've thought I was a bit odd, but answered that she wasn't. I was sure then that it was the perfume of Christ...
So this is what I want our worship to smell like. Not to reek of death and decay, but to smell of Jesus' after-shave. I want to be so close to Him that I can smell His perfume..."
- John De Jong, Riding the Storm
This is what I am praying for... for San Jose, Milpitas, Manteca, Hawai'i... I want to experience that kind of worship, so that Jesus' fragrance becomes our air freshener. I don't need Febreeze, I need Jesus.
